Doug Pouwhare
Doug was a competitive dancer with partner Lisa Hing until retirement in 2009. They competed in
Senior A Grade Ballroom and New Vogue styles.
During their partnership they won many local and regional competitions as well as:
NZFDT Senior B Grade National Champions – Standard
NZFDT Senior B Grade National Champions – New Vogue
NZ FATD South Pacific Representatives Senior Open 8 Dance
FATD South Pacific Senior Open 8 Dance Champions
FATD South Pacific Senior New Vogue Champions
In addition Doug and Lisa have danced at numerous Australian Championships and Australian State
Championships. They were twice NZ Closed Senior A Grade Standard and New Vogue Runners-up
and twice Australian Championship Senior B Grade New Vogue 3rd place.
Doug's qualifications include:Associate Ballroom with NZFTD, SATD & NZFATD. Associate New Vogue & Latin American with NZFTD & SATD.
Doug danced as a teenager and returned to ballroom after many years hiatus at the Virginia Davey Dance
Studio in Hamilton. This later became Simply Dancing Dance Studio and he has always had a close
affinity to the studio. Doug has always been grateful for the support that studio members have shown him
and Lisa at various competitions. Ballroom dancing holds a special place in his heart and he enjoys
sharing the knowledge he has gained from leading ballroom teachers and his time on the competition floor. |
